About Princeton in Africa • Our Mission: • To develop young leaders committed to Africa’s advancement. • What We Do to Achieve It: • We match bright, talented, recent college graduates – passionate about Africa and committed to service – with organizations doing meaningful work across the continent for yearlong fellowships.

Princeton in Africa’s Growth • Founded in 1999 by Princeton alums • That summer, 2 Fellows worked with the Int’l Rescue Committee in Rwanda • Since then, we have placed more than 300 Fellows in 34 countries with 50+ partner organizations • Rigorous selection process today • Last year 420 applications, ~11% selected • Now open to graduates from colleges & universities across the United States • Program offered on a need-blind basis

Princeton in Africa Funding • An independent nonprofit organization • Affiliated with, but not funded directly by, Princeton • Program made possible by friends who believe in the impact our Fellows can achieve • From$12 gifts from alums to a few grants from corporations & foundations (e.g. Johnson & Johnson, Bristol-Myers Squibb) • PLUS additional support from many partner organizations for Fellows ($ given through PiAf and $ / in-kind directly to Fellows) & in-kind from Princeton (free office space!)
