  1. EIP Status

  2. Changes Since PDR • EIP cable ID • Each EIP gets unique ID (simplifies network) • (4) EIP Ethernet Connectors (was 2) • 8 10/100 ports, 4 1G ports (unchanged) • Finalized connector locations • All inputs on left, all outputs & data on front • GPS feed on right (GH only)

  3. Ethernet • EIP Box Connector: See Pinouts • (2) 100Mbit x 4 & (2) 1Gbit x 2 • Mates to TVP06RQW21-75S ($800/ea) • Bulkhead Connector: • Amphenol 10-646787-75S ($2k/ea) • Pin / Socket, 21-75 shell style • Leak Rate: 1*10-3 cm3/s (~0.3 ft3/mission) • Mates to TVP06RQW21-75S & TVP06RQW21-75P ($600/ea) • Cable: Tensolite NF24Q100 ($4/ft) • $15k/ER2, $4k/WB57

  4. Electrical

  5. Mechanical • Pre-production design complete • Dimensions are same as legacy ER-2 EIP • 10.6” W x 6.72” L x 4.32” H • 38% volume reduction by consolidating EIP & ethernet switch

  6. Mechanical

  7. Mechanical • 3D Model, or images from sheet metal dwg.

  8. Global Hawk • Mark III design will differ slightly for manned vs. unmanned observatories • Mark III EIPs can be swapped between manned & unmanned aircraft with minor functionality & cabling changes

  9. Spares Policy • Swap out EIPs in field, send faulty units to ASF for servicing • EIP internal design is modular; most failures can be accommodated by swapping “modules” • WB-57: 3 spares (total) • ER-2: 3 spares (total) • Global Hawk: 2 spares (total)

  10. Schedule / Milestones • EIP Milestones: • Aircraft Fit Check: 2/4/11 • Start of Pre-Production: 3/23/11 • Pre-Production Test: 4/20/11 • Qualification Test: 5/2011 • CDR: 4/2011 • Start of Production: 5/2011 • Production Complete: 7/2011

  11. Purchasing • EIP Assembly cost should be known in 2/2011 • The following items are currently unfunded: • NASDAT backup IMU ($75k) • Aircraft ethernet cable & bulkheads ($38k) • GPS splitters for ER-2 & WB-57 ($24k) • Remaining WB-57 EIPs (10) • Global Hawk EIPs (10)
