  2. Mission The Healthcare and Life Science (HLS) Club at the Stephen M. Ross School of Business at the University of Michigan is dedicated to preparing its members for successful careers across all sectors of the healthcare industry. HLS Club members are ready to take on leadership roles in this multi-disciplinary industry and make a significant impact globally. Objectives • Prepare HLS members to innovatively and ethically lead the healthcare industry and advance their understanding of the intricate and evolving issues of the industry through excellent education programs and sessions. • Host meaningful networking events so that members develop a strong, responsive professional network. • Build and maintain mutually beneficial relationships with corporate partners to enhance the career exposure and prospects for our members and to provide our corporate sponsors with access to a talented pool of students ready to take on the challenges specific to their companies. • Empower members with resources that allow for the pursuit of individualized short-term and long-term career goals.

  3. President’s Welcome Dear Corporate Partner, On behalf of the Healthcare and Life Science Club and the Ross School of Business, I would like to thank you for your interest and support in helping us develop tomorrow’s healthcare business leaders. As you are well aware, global healthcare today is anything but constant, and your generous support helps us to continue developing leaders who deliver improved patient care and human wellbeing. We welcome your participation throughout the upcoming academic year, and look forward to partnering with you. Let me share a few of the things we are working on for this year and which we need your support to deliver: HLS Symposium The Symposium is our largest and most important event each year, drawing over 160 students as well as 70 sponsors and guests. This year’s event – focused on healthcare innovation – will highlight some of the latest and most exciting developments in improving patient care, and should be an engaging experience for students as well as sponsors and guests. If you are interested in participating in this exciting event, please reach out to our planning team, whose contact information is provided later in this brochure. Healthcare Certificate We are excited to near completion of development for Ross’ healthcare certificate program, which will for the first time enable us to deliver a structured healthcare curriculum to both first and second year MBA students. By combining both new and existing classes and faculty from Ross as well as other University of Michigan graduate programs, students will experience a collective breadth and depth of expertise that cut across all areas of the industry – from payor/provider to pharma/biotech and medical device to healthcare venture capital/private equity. We welcome your feedback and participation in this process as we look to develop a curriculum that meets the demands of a changing healthcare landscape. Other Club Activities From case competitions to educational seminars, we welcome your support in helping us deliver a first-class experience for our members in a way that also meets your organization’s objectives. Events that corporate partners have co-hosted with our club in the past include keynote speaker events, football tailgates, and lunch-and-learn sessions. We believe your support and participation are a critical factor in helping us achieve our vision of developing the next generation of healthcare leaders. We look forward to working with you throughout this upcoming 2013-2014 academic year. Thank you, Cody Powers President, Healthcare and Life Science Club, 2013-2014

  4. Introduction A warm welcome from the RossHealthcare and Life Science Club. Over the past couple of years, Ross has cultivated a dedicated group of MBA students who are focused on and intent on pursuing careers in healthcare and life sciences. With your partnership, we hope to continue to engage and grow this core group of talented and interested students. MBA students have particularly benefited from lunch-and-learns showcasing the latest medical device technology innovations, discussions of venture capital funding in healthcare, and case competitions addressing the challenges of bringing to market highly-regulated products and engaging difficult-to-reach customer bases, among many other events. We are keen to continue this strong programming and provide companies access to the right talent. Please find included in this brochure a variety of details regarding corporate partnership opportunities with HLS. If you would like to discuss planning an event or engaging with the Club, we welcome hearing from you. Thank you in advance for your support, and we very much look forward to partnering with you over the coming year and continuing the Club’s strong momentum. Warm regards, Phillip Campbell and Dalia Naamani-Goldman HLS Co-Vice Presidents of Corporate Relations, 2013-2014

  8. Opportunities for Corporate Partnership From early-September through April, the HLS Club presents company representatives a range of opportunities to interact with students. We offer a variety of events, such as Corporate Presentations, Resume Reviews, Mock Interviews, the HLS Symposium Meet The Companies Expo, and the West Coast Forum. We look forward to co-creating new events that best fit your company’s needs. Please contact Phillip Campbell (pgcamp@umich.edu) or Dalia Naamani-Goldman (daliang@umich.edu) with any questions or for assistance in planning events. Corporate Presentations Corporate presentations are conducted at Ross from September through December. These presentations often serve as an initial exposure of the company to the new class of Ross MBA1s and can be used to gauge student interest in the company. The HLS Club will work with the Office of Career Development to establish a date, time and location for your firm’s corporate presentation on campus. Resume Reviews Resume reviews are typically conducted by the sponsoring company at Ross on the same day as scheduled office hours, corporate presentations or information sessions. Representatives from the sponsoring company discuss the students’ background and outline areas for improvement for their resumes in 30-minute time slots. Resume reviews provide the company exposure to the students and give the company an initial glimpse into the profile of the upcoming recruiting class. Mock Interviews Mock interviews are typically conducted by the sponsoring company at Ross on the same day as scheduled office hours, corporate presentations or information sessions. Rooms are reserved and representatives from the sponsoring company conduct a mock interview and provide the students feedback for future improvement in 30- to 60-minute time slots. Over-the-phone mock interviews can also be arranged. Like resume reviews, mock interviews provide the sponsoring company exposure to the students and give the company an initial glimpse into the profile of the upcoming recruiting class.

  9. Opportunities for Corporate Partnership (Ctd.) Health and Life Science Symposium The annual HLS Symposium (September 19-20, 2013) is Ross’ premier healthcare and life sciences recruiting event. Sponsoring companies have the opportunity to interact extensively with students interested in healthcare and life sciences through a wide variety of events. Additional information follows in the next section of this brochure. West Coast Forum The West Coast Forum (October 21-22, 2013) is aimed at students interested in working on the west coast. Co-hosted by the West Cost Forum Committee, the West Coast Forum provides firms excellent exposure to the students through intimate break-out sessions and small corporate presentations. Representatives from the sponsoring companies are available to answer questions and conduct on-site tours of San Francisco Bay Area companies, if interested. Social Events As a means of getting to know students outside of the business school setting, corporate sponsors can network with HLS members at events such as happy hours, tailgates, bowling, and Whirlyball. Other Sponsorship Opportunities Many additional opportunities are available to sponsors that desire more exposure to the students at Ross. Lunch and Learns or other educational seminars (e.g. Medical Device 101), informal meet-and-greets, and trips to corporate headquarters can be arranged.

  10. Invitation to the HLS Symposium • Dear Corporate Sponsor, • The HLS Club is pleased to announce our annual Healthcare and Life Science Symposium on September 19-20, 2013 at the Ross School of Business.  This event is an opportunity for current industry leaders and students to meet and discuss opportunities and challenges in the healthcare industry. • We anticipate the event to be among the most engaging conferences at Ross School of Business this year and a premier healthcare conference hosted by MBA students. To keep members informed about trends in the healthcare industry, we are developing an interesting and pertinent agenda the Forum that centers on “Healthcare Innovation” and will provide attendees with a global perspective on policy, delivery, and new areas of innovation. In addition to featuring a healthcare-specific case competition, panel sessions, and keynote speakers, we are planning additional networking events to match students with companies.  We reached maximum registration capacity last year and we anticipate similar demand this year. • We are pleased to invite you to join us in hosting this outstanding event that provides companies with the opportunity to meet the best MBA students from the Ross School of Business as well as other graduate programs at the University of Michigan. Some of the benefits for this year’s sponsoring companies include: • Receipt of a resume book of Symposium registrants • Your company’s participation in Symposium panels and workshops • Title-sponsorship of the 2013 HLS Case Competition • Opportunities to connect with first year MBA students prior to the start of on-campus recruiting • Opportunities to connect with peers in the industry • We encourage you to partner with us in creating a Symposium that fosters deep discussions, great learning opportunities, and meaningful networking.  The HLS Club will contact you in the next few weeks to personally discuss opportunities for your company to participate in HLS Symposium. • Sincerely, • Jay Weiand SomnathLahiri • Co-Directors, HLS Forum 2013
