  3. Theodor Seuss Geisel, also known as Dr Seuss was born in 1904 September the 24th. What inspired Dr Seuss to write so many children books, was his Mum. She sang him lullabies that rhymed. It was also his home town in Springfield Massachusetts in America. He used the surroundings and some special characters and places there.

  4. Theodor had a happy childhood with 2 sisters. Sadly one of them died at 18 months. He had a nice Mum and Dad. Sometimes it wasn’t the best time for him, because people would tease him growing up through both WWI and WWII. (His Mum and Dad were German.) At High school he wrote for a magazine, but got caught drinking during the prohibition. He then used a pseudonym to keep writing: Dr Seuss. He liked drawing cartoons and he was good at it, a book writer asked him to do the cartoons for his books. This lead to Dr Seuss’s first book: And to Think I Saw It on Mulberry Street’, based on his own town and then another called The Cat in the Hat. This was the book that launched his fame.

  5. He wrote over 60 books, winning many awards before his death in 1991 at 87 years old. He won two Academy Awards, two Emmy Awards, a Peabody Award and the Pulitzer Prize. Now they are making his books into movies the latest movie was the Lorax. He continues to delight children across the world.
