  3. Background • With the rapid development of computer and Internet, teaching style in college is changing at the same time. Computer-multimedia network education can settle the conflict made by less class time and more teaching content. By using the clear cartoon demo and real picture this education style can make the abstract theory vivid and understandable.

  4. Background • It can also help teachers figure out difficult point in their teaching, enhancing teaching efficiency . By changing the teaching content from static to dynamic, Multimedia increased teaching vitality, activated class atmosphere. It can also mobilize students’ activity; get a better teaching effect in short time.

Background • Compared with the conventional teaching material, the multimedia has more capacity, and can store all sorts of data. it can extend students knowledge, support various studying modes. Multimedia software can be made into CD or stored in U-disk which is portable. Students can use it anytime they want. Multimedia software is propitious to independent learning. It can fully mobilize the students’ subjective initiative by changing passive study into active study..

  6. Introduction • Using multimedia technology in education can fully mobilize the students’ initiative. By creating situations and cooperation study, it increased students’ active thinking and exploring, exerted their imagination, made students the host of information and truly initiative instructor on knowledge.

  7. Introduction • Graduation project of municipal engineering undergraduate teaching is an important part in teaching practice. Graduation project is intended to measure undergraduate students’ mastery of knowledge by which they leaned in professional, also to measure students’ comprehensive ability on engineering design codes and specifications.

Introduction • This software---<Database of wastewater engineering graduation project > on municipal engineering is designed to help student in this specialty accomplishing their wastewater engineering graduation project. It is an important teaching assistant to teachers and the first reference to students who need finishing graduation project. This database has important practical meaning in guiding undergraduate students to do their graduation project.

Content of This Software • <Database of wastewater engineering graduation project > has 12 packages, they are: design specification; design code; wastewater engineering manual; design procedures; superior graduation projects; actual engineering drawings; engineering cases; pictures on locale; address of some design institutes; selection of equipment; graduation paper format and scientific paper format.

  10. Frame of This Software • Considered how to integrate the collecting data together that is convenient to students, we decided to use Visual Basic 6.0 as playing interface. Use Visual Basic 6.0 convenient window interactivity, this software is designed as figure.1. The user’s interface is friendly and it is easy to handle.

  12. Making Proceeding of This Software • The collecting materials have doc format, MPG format, jpg format and some other formats. Considered the convenience for students using, we made these materials such as design specification; design code; engineering cases; address of some design institutes; selection of equipment; graduation paper format and scientific paper format into separated executable files, achieving the purpose of organic combination and comparative independence.

  13. Making Proceeding of This Software • We used Dreamweaver Mx2004 as making tool, first converted the doc. txt. and jpg format into WebPages, then made the WebPages into executable files. Users only need to click on the main window to run it. • Considered current PC generally installed Office software, we kept the PowerPoint format, just made a link for it.

  14. Making Proceeding of This Software • Users who installed the Office software can run it, it is very convenient. Similarly, MPG format pictures which got from wastewater plants have a playing link. • To prevent users have not installed playing software, the software has Real One Player as accessory to make convenience of users.

Making Proceeding of This Software • To keep drawings original, we use AutoCAD to open the drawings for most students have AutoCAD on their computers. • At the same time, to prevent students ill using of these CAD drawings such as copying, we enciphered all CAD drawings, you can just look but copy or change.

Furthermore, in order to have a more comfortable atmosphere and avoid boring study, the software has settled background music. Gentle music can make users feel more comfortable and get better effect; of course they can shift the music as they want. In addition, it has an on-off button which can turn on/off the music.

  19. Making Proceeding of This Software • the software can not be used without help documents. There has a help button below the left on the interface. Users can consult the help documents if they have any problems when using it.

Making Proceeding of This Software • For example, if users want to consult the design requirement package, click on design requirement and it turns out as Fig.3. • The catalogue is on the left and the content is on the right. On the top there have shortcut tool buttons and cues. The interface is friendly and open-and-shut.

Users can click on the links to enter the Websites which takes fully advantage of the internet, it is simple and shortcut to check and need not look for the websites strenuously.

  23. Teaching application • The focal point of the computer-assisted educational software lies in its auxiliary function. No matter how perfect it is, it can not replace the teacher. Teachers can not relax their own professional skillsby using multimedia network education; they should stand on a high point to get a whole view.

  24. Teaching application • Teachers must rationally arrange the use of multimedia education in classes. They should prevent using the multimedia courseware too much and should not totally repel using it either. None but combining the multimedia education with teaching organically, teachers can utilize the saved time by using the courseware to discuss in class which can enlighten students’ thought and enliven the ambience of the class, only this can fully exert the CIA assistance.

It can assist students to consult the information related to graduation projects, make them study independently and help settling problems which they encountered in graduation projects.
