  3. What is the Writing Center? • We are a free service open to all members of the UAlbany community • We provide writing assistance to students, faculty and staff • We can assist you with different types of writing: • academic writing (all disciplines) • creative writing • resumes/cover letters

  4. How the Writing Center Works • Students work one-on-one with trained peer tutors in 30 or 60 minute sessions • Students can schedule an appointment to work with a tutor • While we can usually accommodate “walk-ins” (students who do not have an appointment), an appointment is recommended

  5. How the Writing Center Works • Tutors typically assist students with a written project or assignment • Tutors focus on helping students become better writers • Tutors will not proofread or “fix” grammar or usage errors in a paper or assignment

  6. Getting the Most Out of the Writing Center • Make an appointment • Plan ahead with assignment due dates in mind • Return to the Writing Center with later drafts or other assignments • Work with the same tutor • Be patient; developing your writing process takes time!
