  2. Birth place, date, and death • Raymond L. Johnson was born in Alice, Texas. • He was born in 1943. • He has not passed away yet. • Raymond grew up Alice, texas a small town near Corpus Christi,

  3. Growing up in school • Raymond L. Johnson grew up in an all- black two-roomed school house. • When he was in elementary school he lived stones throwing distance away from a brand new school, but that school was restricted to all white people. • He attended the University of Texas, which had been integrated in the 1950s. The dorms how ever were still segregated. • Some of the facilities in the college that Raymond had paid for were unable to be accessed by him because he was black.

  4. Family • Johnny Virginia Johnson was his mother, Virginia Pleasant Johnson Thompson was his grandmother, Benjamin Thompson was her second husband, raised him. • His grandfather taught him how to read and to do arithmetic so he was able to skip the first two grades of school.

  5. Hobbies • One of Raymond’s hobbies is teaching

Employed September 2008 as a math professor at the University of Maryland, College Park From 1992 to 1997 he was chair of mathematics department at the University of Maryland, College Park.
