Introduction

  • Mold is a fungus that grows in a hard surface like walls due to water leaks or high humidity.

  • It can cause various serious health issues and if you see any signs of molds in your home then it is very important to remove as soon as it grows.


Safety Measures

  • The very important thing you need to consider before you start removing mold in your home is to practice safety measures.

  • To protect yourself from mold you can use protective gears for hands, goggles for eyes and wear a practice mask for your face.


Moisten the mold stain

  • Before you start the mold removal process remember to moisten the damage area of mold.

  • Moisten the mold stain avoids the infection of mold through air.


Scouring

  • You can easily remove molds by scouring with soap or detergent.

  • You can use half cup of bleach with one gallon of water to clean the mold stain and remember not to use of bleach with ammonia to clean mold stain this can produce toxic fumes which will cause breathing problem.


Sanding

  • In along with scrubbing and brushing with soap or detergent for removing mold you also need sanding to avoid future growth of mold on materials like wall studs and other structural woods.

  • Whenever you do sanding for mold removal, remember to do in a separate place which is away from your house.


Disinfection Phase

  • This is the last step in mold removalprocess.

  • After the mold is cleaned you can use the mild bleach solution on the disinfected mold areas.

  • You can leave bleach solution on surface for about 10 to 15 minutes to dry and wash it completely.
