  5. Pump Station • Draws Water From Source • Release water into system as needed • Pipes are underground

  6. Supply Lines • Large Pipes at the pump station and become smaller towards the sprinkler • Check Pressure Rating • Materials of Pipe: • PVC • Galvanized iron • Poly ethylene

  7. Control Mechanisms Starts and stops the valves Can be automatic or manual Can control one sprinkler or several

  8. Sprinkler Heads • Different Types: • Fixed spray, pop up, bubblers, rotary, and strip • Most Common on Golf Course • Rotary and pop up • Most Turn 360 degrees

  9. Subsurface Irrigation Drip • Irrigation hoses are located under the surface of the grass throughout the golf course • Sensors implanted in the ground for more accurate watering

  10. When to Irrigate • Most irrigate by the calendar • Best way to irrigate is by assessing frequently • Temperature, humidity • Soil moisture • Wind conditions • Cloud cover • Predicted rainfall
