  4. Facilities Update 120 A and B Bechtel = Student Group Offices

  5. Facilities Continued Bridges: • Will allow small meetings • NO food allowed! (storage or otherwise) • Clean up the space • New codes: • each group will get their own code • codes are tracked • any violations (leaving room messy or storing unauthorized items) = privileges revoked

  6. Financial Update • Spring Allocations: • $200/registered student group • If you turned in your mid-year report, you are registered • Treasurers’ Training Session • All treasurers are REQUIRED to attend • Either: • Sunday (1/30) 3-4:30PM • Tuesday (2/1) 6-7:30PM • Location: Bridges Lounge

  7. Engineers WeekMonday March 7 – Saturday March 12 Update: • Received some COE funding • Sent invitation to faculty • Dean and faculty are EXTREMELY excited! BIG GOALS: • Make sure EVERY student and faculty knows about EWeek • Create new traditions that students look forward to • Build a photo and video campaign

EWeek Schedule Monday: Opening Ceremony (Noon-1PM, Memorial Glade) Evening Social (Theme = Open to Suggestion) Tuesday: Ice Cream Social + Duct Tape Competition (5-7PM) Wednesday: “Show and Tell” (afternoon) Engineering Trivia Night (5-7PM) Thursday: Wine and Cheese + Subject Matter Expert Competition (5-7PM) Friday: Finale Celebration! (4-7PM, Memorial Glade) Saturday: Engineering For Kids (9AM-3PM)

  9. Competitions • Department against department! ME, BioE, CEE, NucE, ChemE, MSE, IEOR, EECS • 4-5 team members per competition • Don’t have to be the same people • Need to get faculty & graduate students involved!! • Each department will have a “Team Capitan” Team Capitan = responsible for creating a team roster and making sure at least 4 people show up per competition

  10. Overview of Events Opening Celebration – • Honestly, still up in the air… waiting for a speaker response • Tentatively: Noon-1PM on Memorial Glade • Known activities: • LUNCH! • Presentation of Engineering Olympics Trophy

  11. Overview of Events Monday Evening Social: • Theme is YOUR choice! • Ideally something that you think about 100-200 people would be interested in doing

  12. Overview of Events Ice Cream Social + Duct Tape Competition 5-7PM, Tuesday Night • 1st Interdepartmental Competition! • Duct tape a team member to a wall • Given only 10-15 minutes • Tape removed piece by piece until only 1 team is left

  13. Overview of Events “Show and Tell” • Students invited to bring a piece of their research project to show off • Similar to poster session, but better because you can actually see the pieces in front of you! • Free food

  14. Overview of Events Trivia and Game Night 5-7PM, Wednesday Night • Compete against your friends • Win awesome prizes! • Snack and drinks

  15. Overview of Events Wine and Cheese + Subject Matter Expert Competition 5-7PM, Thursday Night • Support your department competition team • Asked questions about all engineering major AND Cal facts • Mingle with your friends and drink wine or sparkling cider and cheese!

  16. Overview of Events Finale Celebration!!!! 4-6PM, Friday, Memorial Glade • Obstacle course interdepartmental competition • Carnival games • DJ • FOOD • Awards ceremony

  17. Overview of Events Engineering For Kids (E4K) 9AM-3PM, Saturday • Need student groups to host sessions

What we need from you: PLEASE do NOT hold individual socials and meetings this week!! • Host an event • Advertise EWeek to your members, friends, faculty (TALK IT UP!) • Host a Carnival Booth (you do NOT want to miss this) • Join your department competition team • Volunteer to help out with some of the small things: • Publicity!! – create a flyer, help flyer, classroom announcements, give invitations to your professors and GSIs • Take photos at an event • Update the EWeek website • Be a general volunteer at the Opening and Finale Ceremony
