  6. BEFORE LEAVING TONIGHT A DECISION TO REGISTER FOR THIS CLASS MUST BE MADE BEFORE LEAVING TONIGHT ALL NECESSARY FORMS MUST BE FILLED OUT TONIGHT BEFORE LEAVING

  7. IMPORTANT DATES • The drop date is Sept. 13th, through your guidance counselor. • Midterm exam: Oct. 27/28 online • Physical Fitness Testing: Oct. 29 at Warwick HS Gym B (immediately after school) • Project: Due by Oct. 29th (30th 75% credit, 31st 50% credit, Nov. 1st 25% credit) • Final Exam: January 19th and 20th online • Gym hours can be accumulated until Jan.20th (20 weeks to accumulate 54 hours). Can begin today, Sept. 3rd.

  8. IMPORTANT DATES • 1stassignment DUE: Sept. 13th; first & last name, student ID number, school, telephone number, e-mail, fitness center (location) and class (1609/2609) • All other written assignment areposted and it will be due no later than 7am each Monday. WORK WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED AFTER 7AM. Work can be completed ahead in advance. • Each week, you will receive your grade the Tuesday after you submit your work for all non-short answer questions. Any work submitted in advance will not be graded until the actual week it is due. Short answer/essay questions will be graded within 7 work days.

Grading Policy • 50% Active Movement (54 hours minimum required, anything less is automatic failure) • 30% Written (weekly work, quizzes, midterm, tests, final exam, physical fitness tests) • 20% Student Skill Assessment (Project) • 27 hours by midterm (barometer to stay on timeline, not required) • Maximum of 6 hours per week and 3 hours per day count toward total hours

  10. Physical Education 1609/2609 • This course meets all State DOE requirements. • 1609/2609 is ½ credit course and satisfies one of the two state required units for P. E. • 1609 /2609is a graded class/Pass-Fail is not an option. • As a state required course, certain standards and time requirements must be met in order to qualify for this credit. • This class meets during the standard NNPS semester and must meet all NNPS standards.

Student Responsibilities • All email correspondence must have PE 1609/2609 in the subject line • Students are responsible for site membership • Students must have internet access outside school hours. • Follow all fitness site membership responsibilities. • Turn in assignments in a timely manner. • Keep in touch with Instructor via e-mail. • Complete all assignments electronically. • Maintain all NNPS assigned equipment/materials and return in satisfactory condition. Students may be charged for broken or damaged equipment! • Students are required to cancel membership when the site membership no longer meets their needs (at the conclusion of the class). • Complete all necessary paperwork to initiate this class opportunity.

Tuesday Oct. 29th physical fitness testing and project due • Daily activity log submitted weekly • Pedometer • PowerPoint with application of specific skills using movement concepts & principles. • Heart rate log • Fit for Life assignments • Membership at one of 4 locations • 1. Newport News Y.M.C.A. • 2. Victory Y.M.C.A. • 3. One Life Fitness (Gold’s) • 4. Riverside Wellnes and Fitness • CrossFitOP • Check-out of following equipment • 1. Pedometer • 2. Heart rate monitor • Check Teacher Web for new announcements, deadlines and weekly quizzes.
