  3. 1st Wife--no sons 1527 Wants a divorce Outlives Henry! 1533 2nd Wife 1536--beheaded 1542 Beheaded 1537-Finally gets a son! She dies in child birth 1540 Divorces 4th Wife

Henry VIII takes over the Church • 1529 – 1534: Parliament makes King head of England’s Church • Divorce is legalized, Pope loses power • Seizes church property (church owned 20% of land in England) • Each of his 3 children would rule under religiousturmoil • Elizabeth I (Henry’s 3rd child)- creates the Anglican Church
