  1. CHIROPRACTIC EDUCATION Peter J Stanton MS, DC, DABCO The educational process to become a regular doctor of Chiropractic (DC) takes from 7- 8 years.

  2. Chiropractic Orthopedist In addition to his “DC” degree Dr Stanton is a “Chiropractic Orthopedist”. This Involves an additional 3 years of monthly seminars and then passing part 1 and 2 of the Board Exam. The advanced training allows treatment of more difficult cases. Peter J Stanton MS,DC, DABCO

  3. Nutritionist Dr Stanton also holds a Masters degree in Human Nutrition from the University of Bridgeport. This allows him to gives useful advice regarding the latest nutrition fads, diets and supplements. General health and many ailments can be treated with nutrition supplements and herbs.

  4. Nutritional Therapy Diet and supplements can drastically improve: Cholesterol profiles Diabetes control Cancer risk Digestion General health and a host of other maladies. Ask about a a DIET ANALYSIS.

  5. What Do We Treat ?? The Research shows Chiropractic is effective For a variety of aliments.

  6. Tension Headache? Dolor de cabesa There is good evidence that manipulation helps tension type headaches

  7. Migraines ??? Yes. There is decent evidence that manipulation can help decrease the frequency and intensity of migraines. Some patients may still require medications at a lower dosage

  8. Scoliosis (spinal curvature)? There are no cures for Scoliosis short of surgery which may be required IF The curve is Severe….. However, Manipulation CAN keep the spine mobile and pain-free.

  9. Neck and Low back Disc Problems with Pinched nerves A manipulation called “flexion distraction” is very effective for herniated discs in the neck and low back. This is ALWAYS the best choice before Surgery

  10. Back Surgery is Bad Sometimes. Statistics vary but approximately 10-30% of back surgery patients are no better or worse. I feel these results are dismal. That is why all non surgical options should be tried first.

  11. Carpal Tunnel Syndrome (pinched nerve in wrist) The wrist bones can be manipulated to open up the carpal tunnel and release the pressure on the nerve

  12. Shoulder Pain/Injury Deep tissue massage and shoulder manipulation are effective in treating many chronic and acute shoulder conditions

  13. WHIPLASH Car accidents frequently Stretch or tear the fibers Of the ligaments, muscles And discs of the spine. This is bad as it causes Long term damage and Degeneration.

  14. Gentle manipulation restores Mobility to the 24 segments of The spine. This can speed healing But more importantly it allows The tissues to heal with good Mobility rather than restrictive scar Tissue which could lead to long term Problems.

  15. Biomechanics- Proper Movement • Sitting, lifting and bending improperly are responsible for many of the problems people have with their backs. • Let’s learn a little more about the spine and how to take care of it.

  16. The Spine has 3 curves: The cervical curve or neck. The thoraciccurve or mid back. And the lumbar curve or low back.

  17. The Spine needs these curves in order to function properly. Unfortunately many people make their spines have just 1 “Big C” curve by: *bending wrong *sitting slouched.

  18. The “BIG C” curve causes increased stress on the spine and can contribute to pain discomfort and disk problems. Avoid the slouched “big C” position when sitting. Also avoid “head forward” posture.

  19. How To SIT

  20. Is This the proper way to sit? NO!!!! Notice the“Big C” Curve? Never sit like this !

  21. How About This? YES!!!!It’s correct Notice the 3 curves of the spine are maintained. The spine is strong and there is no “BIG C”

  22. This is also correct with the use of a Lumbar Roll or special back support

  23. Is This Correct?? NO!!!!!!!! Notice the “Big C” curve again? These muscles discs and joints are under a lot of stress.

  24. This is Correct Notice the 3 curves of the spine are maintained? Notice the Knees LOWER than the hips? This Helps you sit up correctly. Sitting Wedge $7 Ask about the WEDGE

  25. LIFTING

  26. Does this look right? NO!!!!!!!!! The “Big C” curve is present. The discs are being squeezed and muscles working overtime.

  27. Is This O.K.?? NO!! This is the “Big C” with a twist. This damages the spine. This is theWORST POSSIBLE THING YOU CAN DO.

  28. Is This Right? YES!!! 1)Legs bent 2)Back arched 3)Head up 4)Weight close

  29. 5) Weight centered 6) Wide stance 7) “nose between the toes” Lifting Perfection!!!

  30. What’s Wrong with This Picture? Reaching Forward Incorrectly “Big C” Present. Legs straight.

  31. The Golfer’s Lift While reaching , lift the back leg but keep the spine straight. This works very well in a variety of situations
