  1. Kennedy King College Some Tips On How to Succeed In College

  2. Attend class Introduce yourself to all of your instructors Always sit as near to the front of the class as you possibly can Copy your course syllabus, keep one with you, and store the other in a safe place Know your instructors’ office hours and meet with them when you need clarification of class topics Before meeting with an instructor, make a good faith effort to solve the problem on your own. Be prepared to communicate specifically where you are having difficulty

  3. Do assigned readings prior to the class session where they will be discussed Take plenty of notes during class and review them as soon as possible Master the vocabulary of the courses you are enrolled in As you read your textbooks and lecture notes, figure out what questions they answer. Write those questions in the margin next to their answers Always carefully investigate photos, charts , graphs etc., whenever you see them in your reading assignments

  4. Whenever you encounter two or more similar items, concepts etc., compare and contrast them as you study them. Your goal is to be able to reliably distinguish them from one another Quiz yourself after every study session. Structure your quizzes so that they are as similar to actual tests as you can make them Take short breaks after each 30-40 minute study session Keep telephone numbers for several of your classmates and for your instructors. If you must be absent, you can call someone to find out what went on in class in your absence. Your are responsible for missed work and/or assignments
