Why MOOC-Eds? • All the changes in education require opportunities for teachers and administrators to update their knowledge, skills and professional practices. • Resources for PD are very limited in most places. • Traditional “sit and listen” approaches are not effective; principles of effective PD are known. • Educators need a chance to learn in the ways they are asked to teach. • Personalized, accessible, effective, scalable PD is essential for successful school reforms.

Digital Learning Transition MOOC-Ed • Collaboration with the Alliance for Excellent Education • Audience • School and district leaders responsible for digital learning initiatives • Goals • Understand the potential of digital learning in K-12 schools • Assess progress and set goals for your class, school or district • Plan to achieve those goals • Includes • Readings, videos, case studies, discussions, projects, project reviews, crowdsourcing, expert panels, surveys • Over 8 sessions, 8-12 weeks for participants • 5,000+ enrolled over 3 courses, 50% participate, 10% from outside U.S.
