Highlight of Current Activities (1) Telecom Management and Operations Committee (TMOC) • Current work focus: • Accounting Management (Harmonization of IPDR and Diameter/ASN.1 solutions and Architecture Framework for OSS interfaces); collaboration with TM Forum (IPDR), ATIS’ Ordering and Billing Forum (OBF), ITU-T SG13 • IPTV Services Mgmt - Ad Space Ordering API; collaboration with ATIS OBF, ATIS IIF, TM Forum • NGN Mgt & Spec Methodology; collaboration with ITU-T SG2 JCA • Mgt & Ops aspects of ATIS Board/TOPS Council driven work (NGN Interconnected Carriers, VoIP Call Routing and Registry Provisioning, NGN Disaster Recovery Guidelines). • Coding and Maintenance Agent aspects of NGN Service Provider ID and Location Service Cross-coupling

Highlight of Current Activities (2) Telecom Management and Operations Committee (TMOC) • Recently completed work: • IPTV Service Management Ordering Framework; collaboration with ATIS OBF with review by TM Forum • Harmonization of Interface Specification Methodologies and Tools • Revisions to T1.202, Internetwork Operations - Guidelines for Network Management of the Public Telecommunications Networks Under Disaster Conditions, and T1.223, Information Interchange – Structure and Representation of Network Channel (NC) and Network Channel Interface (NCI) Codes for information exchange.

  4. Strategic Direction • Work on essential Mgt & Ops standards gaps • Continue to work Mgt & Ops aspects of ATIS Board and ATIS TOPS Council “top down” work programs (e.g., NGN Accounting Management) • Coordinate and collaborate with other organizations where appropriate

  5. Challenges Industry wide challenges for Mgt&Ops Standards development: • Nexus of IT and Telecom (two dynamic environments) • Focus on network/service specific aspects of Mgt&Ops • Thus common aspects of Mgt&Ops are deemphasized and work is highly distributed across many committees and forums • Distributed Mgt&Ops experts across many committees and forums • Given limited and distributed resources, selecting essential standards gaps to work on with maximum industry/member benefit, and coordinating across the many forums is a challenge

  6. Next Steps/Actions • Complete currently defined work program • Continue to support the Mgt & Ops aspects of strategic work as directed “top down” by the ATIS Board and ATIS TOPS Council (e.g., NGN Accounting Management) • Continue with cross-organizational coordination and collaboration
