  4. Skill 3: Saying Thank You Step 1: Decide if you want to thank someone. Saying thank you is a great way to tell someone that you appreciate what he/she has done for you. You thank someone when you feel it is earned. Some examples might include when someone helps you clean up, tells you that you look nice, or lets you get in line in front of them to get onto the school bus.

Skill 3: Saying Thank You Step 2: Choose a good time and place. • When you have decided to say thank you, it is important to do so when that person is not busy doing something or is not busy with someone else. • When is it a good time and place to say thank you at • school to a friend ? • school to a teacher? • home to mom or dad? • home to a friend?

  6. Skill 3: Saying Thank You Step 3: Thank the person in a friendly way. • When you thank someone, it sure would be great if you also tell • them why you are thanking him or her. Let the person know that it made you feel good. It would make them feel good in return. • Examples may include: • Thank you for helping me clean my desk. It made me happy! • I was glad when you helped me wash the dishes, thank you.

  8. Skill 3: Saying Thank You Let’s Practice ! Here are some suggested activities. Practice these with your friends so you can become experts on saying thank you. School: Someone helps you with your schoolwork. Home: Your parents help you with your chores or homework, or they let you do something you have asked to do. Peer Group: Someone lends you a pencil or compliments you.
