  3. Duties at Therrell • Manage Library/Media program • Develop and maintain Library/Media Collection • Provide services to facilitate the instructional process

  4. Available Technology Students have accessibility to computers Computers, LCD projectors, promethean boards, document cameras, digital cameras, and digital camcorders are available to teachers

  5. Givens-Brown Definition of Technological Literacy • The ability to use technology effectively in an instructional setting, manage the use and care of the equipment, assess the various software or programs that can help with the equipment, and understand the basic operations of the technology

  6. Technology in the Learning Process • Technology should be used as an aide for instruction • Technology should not be used as a substitute for direct instruction

  7. Technology Integration Means…. • Using computers effectively and efficiently in the general content areas such as: - Math - Science - English - Social Studies • The use of technology by teachers and students as a tool to support curricular goals, enhance instruction, and ultimately improve student learning

Obstacles Faced • Limited technology use to support the whole school population to both teachers and students • Lack of technology training so that teachers can effectively support the learning environment utilizing the various technology available • Problems with access and internet connectivity

  9. Getting Individuals to Buy-into Technology • Demonstrating a technology-driven classroom VS • A non-existent technology environment

  10. Future of Technology inEducation Need support at all 4 levels: • National • State • Local • District level
