  1. Grad/Gred/Gress to step, walk, go, or move

  2. 1. Grade a degree or step in a scale, as rank, advancement; quality, value, or intensity If you work for the Federal government, your starting grade or level will depend upon your education and the number of years experience you have in the field.

  3. 2. Regress to go back; move backward; to return to a previous, usually worse or less developed state After living in the wild among apes for many years, Tarzan regressed to the point where he was no longer able to speak and walk as a human. Instead, he used grunts to communicate and walked using his arms like an ape.

  4. 3. Aggressor a person, group, or nation that attacks or moves first The aggressor was charged in the altercation because he started the fight.

  5. 4. Gradual advancing or progressing by regular or continuous degrees By the time environmentalists recognized the gradual decline of the dodo bird, it was too late, for they were extinct.

  6. 5. Degrade To lower in dignity or estimation; bring into contempt. The bully tried to degrade his victim by making fun of his clothes, accent, and family, but in truth, the bully only made himself contemptible

  7. 6. Digress - to wander away from the main topic or argument in speaking or writing . We enjoyed when our Science teacher would digress from the topic and tell stories about her childhood.

  8. 7. Egress - the act of going out or leaving . One reason so many people died in the nightclub tragedy in Rhode Island is that when the fire started, they ignored other exits and tried to egress through the same door they had entered.

  9. 8. Ingress - the act of going in or entering. The eager students couldn’t wait to ingress into the building to begin their new school year in August.

  10. 9. Progression - Movement, as toward a goal; advance; development or growth. His progression toward finishing college and entering graduate school was put on hold when he had to go home to take care of his ailing mother.

  11. 10. Transgression - an act of violating a law, command, or moral code. Five-year-old Sammy felt guilty for his transgression of stealing gum from the store, so he went back and returned it.
