  1. First Visit to a Chiropractor Things to Expect

  2. Neuromuscular disorders like joint pains and body aches are quite widespread these days, primarily due to a poor diet and a sedentary lifestyle that lacks physical activity. Considering the unpleasant side effects associated with most medical treatments, many people are now beginning to realize the importance of natural alternatives for treating pain, one of the most common one being chiropractic care.

  3. What does a chiropractor do? Chiropractors employ manual therapy by essentially focusing on the central nervous system and the manipulation of spine and various joints like shoulders, knees and hips. In general, they can treat pain in the shoulders, arms, legs and headaches, but they are mostly known for treating neck and low back pain.

  4. With every chiropractor using their own techniques to heal pain, it is difficult to know what to expect during your first session of chiropractic treatment.

  5. What does the treatment involve? Your fist session may last for about 45 minutes and so you should be on time and allocate enough time for your consultation. A comprehensive examination will be made by the chiropractic physician, which includes your medical history, previous orthopedic and neurological conditions, genetic predisposition and the current treatments or medications that you are taking. You will be asked to move in different positions to check for the flexibility of your body and locate the body parts that are affected by pain.

  6. In order to identify the underlying cause or the location of the joints, muscles or bones that are misaligned, different laboratory tests like X-ray exam and Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) may be recommended by the doctor. Even though, your treatment does not begin on the first day, you will be provided with professional recommendations of care like stretching exercises, ice and heat treatment and other ways of reducing the intensity of pain.

  7. The results of your first examination will help the chiropractic determine if chiropractic care may or may not be suitable for treating your condition. If manual manipulation seems possible, you will be asked for your consent to begin the treatment and then good chiropractic's will try their best to help you get back to the road of recovery, with least number of chiropractic sessions. However, occasionally chiropractic treatment may not be a solution to your pain. In such cases, the chiropractic may suggest you alternate treatments or refer you to other specialists, who are experts at treating the condition that you are suffering from.

  8. Why should you choose chiropractic treatment over other conventional treatments? Opting for an affordable chiropractic over other conventional medical treatments for treating acute back pain has several benefits. Manipulation of the spine and application of moderate pressure on the affected areas is considered a safe and natural alternative, which does not have as many side effects as analgesics or drugs used for subsiding back pain.

  9. However, it is important to inform the chiropractic about your lifestyle factors and ongoing medical conditions, to avoid any possible drug interactions and their awful consequences. Chiropractic care must be avoided by people suffering from osteoporosis, spinal cord compression, rheumatoid arthritis and those who are on hypertensive or blood-thinning medications to avoid stroke and spinal cord injury.
