Volkswagen And Microsoft Tie Upto Manufacture Connected Cars Volkswagen in its quest to turn out to be an automobile maker with completely connected automobile fleet has linked a key partnership with software giant: Microsoft. With this agreement, the German automaker will use its US software ally’s Cloud expertise to produce new vehicles for the next generation. According to the deed, the 2 companies will partner to leverage the "Volkswagen Automotive Cloud", an exclusive platform for all Volkswagen’s digital offerings and mobility services. In the coming days, Volkswagen's group of vehicles will go mobile Internet of Things (IoT) hubs connected with Microsoft Azure, said a statement this week from the German auto manufacturer. Herbert Diess, the Volkswagen CEO said, "The strategic alliance with Microsoft will turbocharge our digital transformation." Through the Volkswagen Automotive Cloud, the Volkswagen group is planning to optimize the interconnection of cars, customer-centric services and Cloud-based platform for all brands. CEO of Microsoft Satya Nadella said, "Volkswagen is growing technology to digitally transform and deliver innovative new connected car services to its customers." "The globe’s leading organizations operate on Azure, and we are excited that German maker has preferred us. Combinedly we will reimagine & rethink the driving practice for people universally," said Nadella. Beginning from 2020, over 5 million new VW-brand vehicles every year will be completely connected and will be part of the IoT in the Cloud, said Volkswagen. Total in-car services for vehicles of the core Volkswagen brand along with the Group-wide Cloud- based platform in the future will be constructed on Microsoft's Azure cloud platform and services in addition to Azure IoT Edge. Volkswagen also stated it would even build a new automotive Cloud development office in North America close to headquarters of Microsoft. As of now, the company is doing well both in India and elsewhere in the world with relied authorized Volkswagen dealers & well-doing vehicles like Tiguan & Passat.
