  1. Ford India Hopes Big Sales in this Festive Season & Plans Increasing Local Content Surpassing 90% Ford India, the Indian wing of the America-based car manufacturer is planning to increase products made out of the local content to more than 90% in the days to come to trim costs. Ford India has 2 manufacturing units in the nation- at Sanand (Gujarat) and Chennai (Tamil Nadu) and has augmented localisation to 85% at present from 60-70% in 2013. Anurag Mehrotra Ford India president and managing director as reported by DNA Money said, "Electronics and transmissions are a big component, it's still not localised. The ability to get right technology at right price is still limited. But in future, who knows? We have been able to bring down costs because of increased localisation." Of late the automaker unveiled its revamped variant of Aspire-its compact sedan that’s available in 6 models. Revenues of Ford India for the financial year that ended in March 2018 were nearly $4 billion which even includes exports. For the first time, the domestic revenues surpassed $1 billion and the topline for the manufacturer has been increasing in between 15-20% per year since the past couple of years. Mr. Mehrotra said, ‘’Though the festive sales for the auto industry started on a sombre note because of floods in Kerala, the company is hopeful of a good season around Diwali and New Year despite the rising fuel prices. Pent-up demand won't be impacted by petrol and diesel prices as people look for fuel economy and other factors." He summed up, "The start of the festive season was low key but October, November are the biggest months. Consumers will come and buy, the product timings have to be right. We also have to keep in mind that the auto industry India is growing at 9-10% rate, which is faster than most of the markets and expected to grow 10-12% next year."

  2. As per the released statement of Ford India the company’s sales for September 2018 pitched up to 19,988 vehicles, which is a growth rate above 17%. The company in the last year for the same month sold 16,525 vehicles. Many of the showrooms including PPS Ford, the Ford showroom in Pune are positive that the sales percentage for Ford Vehicles especially New Aspire would see an increase in this month and coming month due to the onset of the festive season.
