  1. 30th of January 2007Winterthur/Zurich, SwitzerlandInternational Partnering Meeting for FP7 projects NANOSCIENCES, NANOTECHNOLOGIES, MATERIALS, NEW PRODUCTION TECHNOLOGIES NMP-2007-3.1-2 New added-value user-centered products and product services 2011 Wood Supply Chain, Selection of trees before cutting, Verification of Wood quality before transportation New FP7 Project 2009Wood 3D tomography, 3D trunk visualization, 3D nesting 2007Wood Drying in 48h Consortium: OK Water measuring in the wood & RFID searching industrial partners: for Drying stove technologies

  2. 2007 • The selection of an existing RFID chips in the market that complies to the requirements that will be defined in the project • The development and test of the antenna • The research, selection of glue material that will surround the antenna and chip functioning as a isolating and protective capsule which will enable its attachment to the product. More precisely, it is intended to develop a tag with the following mechanical characteristics: • At room temperature it will be soft and flexible • At -40°C it will be rigid to allow its insertion inside the leather or wood • At 100°C it will be transformed into a plasma enabling the encapsulation of the material to be attached, for instance leather, wood or cloth. • Resistant to all productive processes (up to 140°C considering also aggressive processes and working environments).

  3. In-homogeneity 2007 Water detection in the wood, setup measuring example: Microwave based measurement systems features applied on wood : • no physical contact between samples and sensors • in-homogeneity detection • real-time measurement • moisture detection Can be employed on several non-metallic materials too as: Wood, paper, leather, …

  4. 2009 • Low power microwave based CT system • (computed tomography)

  5. A 2011 • Selection of trees before cutting • Verification of wood quality before transportation • Woods care • Optimization for the intended usage • 3D trunk visualization • 3D nesting A A B A B B Contact: Renzo Longhi SUPSI-DTI; Istituto CIM della Svizzera Italiana Galleria 2, CH-6928 MANNO URL www.icimsi.ch E-Mail renzo.longhi@supsi.ch Tel +41 (0)58 666 66 29 +41 (0)79 621 05 48
