  2. AREA AND PERIMETER OF RECTANGLES LESSON In this lesson you will be learning about how to find the area and perimeter of a rectangle! Please be sure to quietly work on this assignment individually. There will be a quiz at the end, so pay attention and make sure you understand everything! Don’t be afraid to go back to previous slides if you aren’t sure of a concept. Have fun!

  5. Perimeter • Perimeter = 2L + 2W • Perimeter is the distance around a two-dimensional shape

  6. Perimeter = 2L + 2W 2(4) + 2(10) = 8 + 20 = 28 feet

  7. Area • Area = L x W • Area is the size of a surface

  8. Area = L x H 10 x 4 = 40 feet

  13. To find the perimeter of the coffee mug, you would take the length times 2, plus the width times 2. Click the coffee mug when you think you have found the answer. If you need to, use the pen tool to show your work! 4 inches 2 inches 2(4) + 2(2) = 8 + 4 = 12
