    1. Big Writing The development of the writing voice through fast, fun, lively and predominantly oral activities. It is based on the idea that... If a child can say it, a child can write it. So what is today all about? It is primarily about communication. It is to enable you as parents to become more involved in your childs development as writers. We are committed as a whole to a school/home partnership. We want to invest in you as parents as a resource. From when your children are very little, you are the most important influence in terms of development in areas such as language and experiences and school develops on from that. We have a whole school approach and this begins at the highest level with our school development plan which is re written each year in order that we are always forward looking to what we can do to improve. The SDP outlines the expected targets we as a school want to achieve and in terms of writing there is particular emphasis upon myself as Subject manager and the Head teacher to ensure this happens. We of course are supported by school inspectors and governors also. So today I want to explore a little more about... How the Big Writing approach can be used to support the children in becoming proficient writers. AND to give you an idea of what we do in school and our expectations of your children. We are going to have a go at a few things ourselves! So what is today all about? It is primarily about communication.
