Lietuvos kūno kultūros akademija Historical Overview • Lithuanian Academy of Physical Education (LAPE) grew out ofHigher Courses in Physical Education(HCPE)set up in Kaunas in1934 • In 1938 HCPE were closed and its educational role was taken byLithuanian National Institute of Physical Educationestablished in1945 • In 1999the Institute was renamed intoLithuanian Academy of Physical Education • Since its foundation over13000studentshave graduated from LAPE
