  2. Mission Statement Oakland County’s mission is to provide a progressive, location-based solution that promotes informed decision making, improves citizen services, and encourages collaboration across all levels of government.

  3. Objectives Leverage accurate and current location-based data to support decision making in Oakland County. Strategically implement and promote focused location-based services to facilitate citizen access to information. Expand Oakland County’s location-based services to reach anyone, at any time, from anywhere. Create and sustain innovative partnerships and collaboration opportunities. Foster a sustainable technological environment for Oakland County location-based services.

  4. Strategic Goals Goal 1: Configure and deploy a self-service mapping platform that empowers County staff to leverage GIS. Goal 2: Expand and modernize access to geospatial data. Goal 3: Establish Oakland County as a premier user of GIS technologies.

  5. Goal 1 Start in these focus areas: Economic development. Promote businesses such as Medical Main Street and other Emerging Sector programs. Quality of life. Trail and park maps. County-wide events. Citizen services. Polling locations. Campus place finder. Library finder. Executive dashboarding. Replacement of legacy applications.

  6. Goal 2 • Develop centralized, branded galleries of maps, applications, and services for consumption by: • General public. • CVTs and other government partners. • Developer community.

  7. Goal 3 • Use social media to promote Oakland County GIS. • Blogs, Twitter, MeetUps • Demonstrate leadership at GIS events. • Host local, regional, GIS events. • Submit papers, articles to GIS newsletters, journals, etc. • Strategically unlock GIS data. • Partner with STEM education initiatives.

  8. Enabling Technologies Technologies needed to meet our goals: • Infrastructure • ArcGIS Online for Organizations (AGO) • Existing on premise ArcGIS Server architecture • Active Directory • Software • ArcGIS Solutions • Configure vs custom • Oakland County app templates • Devices • Tablets, smart phones, etc.
