What is an “FQHC”? • “Federally Qualified Health Center” • Non-profit and community directed • Focus on serving low income and medically underserved communities • Provide medical, dental, pharmacy & other services El Rio’s mission is improving the health of our community through comprehensive, accessible, affordable, quality and compassionate care. El Rio Health Center Foundation is a non-profit organization supporting the mission of the health center through fundraising. We are a qualifying Arizona state tax credit organization for the “Working Poor.”

  3. Access to quality, affordable primary healthcare. • El Rio provides a health care home for 79,000+ patients, over 30,000 children • 325,000+ medical and dental visits per year in Tucson. • The majority of our patients live at or below the Federal Poverty Line. • 17 sites throughout Tucson

  4. El Rio has programs of excellence in the following areas: • Clinical Pharmacy • Asthma • Diabetes • Hepatitis C • HIV/AIDS • Prenatal Care • Immunizations

  5. Studies show the quality of care in community health centers is equal to or greater than care provided in other settings.
