Understand the Importance of Roof Ventilation for a Good Home

A roof ventilation system works by providing a continual flow of air through the attic space, helping remove overheated air and moisture from the attic, roof system, and reduce the impact of changing temperatures and moisture conditions both inside and outside the home. The system allows ventilation of air to take place consists of intake vents and exhaust vents installed at strategic intervals in the attic or roof area.

  1. Understand the Importance of Roof Ventilation for a Good Home A roof ventilation system works by providing a continual flow of air through the attic space, helping remove overheated air and moisture from the attic, roof system, and reduce the impact of changing temperatures and moisture conditions both inside and outside the home. The system allows ventilation of air to take place consists of intake vents and exhaust vents installed at strategic intervals in the attic or roof area. A professional roofing company helps in making of correct design and construction of the system, which is critical. The roof design should provide plenty of air space for insulation and airflow under the roof and eaves. A well-designed system will precisely balance the intake and exhaust of the air, under the roof, so that maintain good pressure and the conditioned air does not escape out, through the vent, which allows in keeping energy bills down. The other noted benefits of roof ventilation include: Extends life of the roof: Areas in the snowy region experience ice damming (a process in which the ice builds up near the roof edges), which happens when heat from inside the attic combines with the heat from the sun to melt snow on the roof. It results in water running down the roof edge, which begins to refreeze on the edge. This will cause huge damage to the floor as huge amounts of weight are accumulated on the edge. It also affects the attic and inside the walls of the house. Proper ventilation will eliminate this problem. Reduce energy cost: A properly vented roof would allow free flow of air, thereby reducing the pressure on the workload of your HVAC system. Lesser use of the system would mean low consumptions of energy, thus lower energy bills. Reduce extreme indoor temperature: At times, you might have experienced huge variation in room temperature at different locations of the same house. It may be due to poorly vented roofs. An experienced professional would be able to design the perfect ventilation system with a designed number of vents, thus making the home a better place to live.
