  17. Using the Channel Manager

Rates and availability • Rates should be the final amount (inclusive of all additional fees, i.e., tax, service charge, etc.) a guest pays for a room per night. • Hotels are encouraged to always put in their Last Remaining Availability (LRA). • Be warned of fixed allotments maintained by some OTAs. • The channel manager has NO CONTROL of fixed allotments. • Only has control of floating allotments.

  23. How ota’s present room rates • Exercise • In the channel manager, note a date when a room is available. Note the rate. • Go to www.agoda.com to make a test booking. • Note the initial amount displayed for the room. Proceed to next step of booking. • Note the final amount you have to pay. Note the breakdown and how it is presented. • Does the final amount correspond with the rate in the channel manager? • Do the same for the other OTAs connected.

  29. some notes • Maximum availability pushed by Hotel Link Solutions to any OTA is four (4). • If availability in Hotel Link Solutions = 6, availability in OTA = 4 • If availability in Hotel Link Solutions = 5, availability in OTA = 4 • If availability in Hotel Link Solutions = 4, availability in OTA = 4 • If availability in Hotel Link Solutions = 3, availability in OTA = 3 • Allow up to five (5) minutes for values in the OTA extranets to be updated. • Try emptying the browser cache if values don’t seem to update. • Disregard rates shown in Distribution Channel page

  30. Some notes • Wotif • If change done in Wotif, need to deactivate, fetch so Hotel Link Solutions can overwrite Wotif. • If change done in Hotel Link Solutions, no need to deactivate. Change happens in Wotif w/in 5 minutes. • So, remind hotel to refrain from directly making any update in the OTA extranets. Rather, all updates should be done in Hotel Link Solutions.

REMEMBER the availability before altering. Go to Distribution Channel. Select LateRooms/AsiaRooms from the list on the left. Click Accept and Connect. Enter Username and Password. Click Fetch Rooms.
