Question 2 • Application of knowledge of daily hassles • Paula is experiencing several daily hassles such as losing things and having too much to do. • Research has shown that daily hassles can impact on our health • As the stress from these hassles increases, her health may decrease • Chronic stress on the body has a major impact – the release of cortisol causes an imbalance between TH1 and TH2 immunity meaning that Paula is more likely to develop colds as her immune system is weaker

  4. Question 3 • Type A personality • Competitive • Impatient • Hostile

Question 4 • As Mark has Type A personality, he is more likely to suffer the negative effects of stress • His personality characteristics lead him to have an increased fight or flight response leading to increased heart rate and blood pressure • It also means more stress hormones will be present in his body which can lead to stress related illnesses such as coronary heart disease (CHD)

  6. Question 5 • Do not get mixed up between Beta Blockers & Benzodiazepines • Need to describe how they manage and reduce stress • SIT/HT – need to describe the stages involved
