STUDENT USE • Prepare assignments, especially for the class “Singing for the Stage.” Students are assigned to choose, research, learn & perform songs of various composers. • Prepare material for auditions, juries, research papers & program notes. • On the first day of class the Music Librarian gives a presentation on the archive to the Musical Theatre freshman class on how to search for materials

  12. STUDENT USE • Guest composers give performances & workshops. Past guests: Jerry Herman, Jason Robert Brown, Charles Strouse, Stephen Schwartz, Tom Jones, Harvey Schmidt, Ricky Ian Gordon, Craig Carnelia, William Bolcom, Lynn Ahrens, John Bucchino, Stephen Flaherty, Andrew Lippa, Marcy Heisler, Zina Goldrich, Dan Goggin, Maury Yeston, Frank Wildhorn, Barry Kleinbort.

  13. STUDENT USE • Guest performers give masterclasses for students. • In Oct. 2004 Jason Graae, Karen Mason & Alex Rybeck give a cabaret performance & masterclasses. Past guest performers: Karen Morrow, Paige O’Hara, K.T. Sullivan, Mark Nadler, Keith Buterbaugh, Dawnn Lewis, Lewis Cleale, Chris Denny, Karen Mason, Donald Pippin, Barry Kleinbort, Dave Clemmons, Doug Sills, Adam Epstein, Desmond Child, Liz Callaway.

  14. FACULTY USE • Faculty choose study material for class assignments and for theatre productions • Review new musical scores and CDs • Give workshops on “Vocal Pedagogy for the 21st Century”

  15. FACULTY USE • Used materials from the archive to stage a musical review of songs from 1926 celebrating the 75th anniversary of the University of Miami • Use material for the Summer Musical Theatre Institute for high school students

  16. OUTSIDE USERS • Find webpage and email requests for copies of songs • Local performers phone in requests • Requests for photos of playbill covers; e.g. from Today Show • Recordings are being used on a local weekly radio show

COLLECTION DEVELOPMENT • Annual allocation to purchase materials for the collection: CDs, vocal scores, vocal selections & videos • Gifts to the collection: CHUCK LINKNER, Orlando, FL, donated 112 unpublished scripts, Feb. 1992, at time of the dedication of the collection Family of TERRY MILLER donated 98 cartons of material, including unpublished scripts, playbills, scores, videos and LPs after his death in August 1995 Memorial cash donations were made in memory of Billy Matthews after his death in 1997
