Verb Tenses. Every verb has three basic forms called its principal parts: Present Past Past Participle. Present. We live in a mobile society. Past. Automobiles gave travelers more freedom. Past Participle. Drivers have enjoyed this freedom for years.

  6. The Two Types of Verbs There are two types of verbs: • Regular verbs • Irregular verbs

  7. Regular verb: A verb whose past and past participle are formed by adding –ed or –d to the present. Ex.Moved, traveled

  8. Irregular verb: A verb whose past and past participle are NOTformed by adding –ed or –d to the present. Ex. Bring- Brought Catch- Caught Dig- Dug
