  2. Aims for evening • Specific information about the National Curriculum Tests (SATs). • What is involved in the English and Mathematics tests? • Questions and purchasing study guides.

  3. General Information for SAT’s Tests are for English Mathematics Tests during week beginning 9th May 2011 No holiday will be authorised from 26th April to 13th May 2011

  4. Other considerations. • Punctuality. • Breakfast. • Help the children to be organised. • Talk through what they are going to do each day.

How do we ensure your child does their best? • There are slight changes to the curriculum • A revision programme is completed – including homework • Booster sessions for some targeted children • Children do practice the skills needed to complete the test papers • Tests are taken in the classroom • Some children may have an adult to support them, either reading the questions or scribing their answers and will do this in a separate classroom.

  8. English Written Paper Long Task - 45 minutes Short Task - 20 minutes Reading Paper Read booklet - 15 minutes Answer questions - 45 minutes Spelling 20 words within a text.

  17. How can you help? • Build confidence, learning multiplication tables with quick recall, number facts to 20, pairs of numbers to 100. • Practice in real life situations e.g. helping with shopping, estimating totals, converting pence to pounds, weighing ingredients for cooking, reading scales • Working through examples • Encouraging the children to use the methods they have learnt in school- building on their understanding.
