  1. Wind Energy Ivonne Fraire George Breeze

  2. How it works & stored • The wind spins the blades, which turn a shaft connected to a generator that produces electricity. • Wind power uses turbines to harness Kinetic energy of wind & turn it into electricity.

  3. Pros & Cons • Pros: • Uses kinetic energy from wind • environment friendly • more efficient than solar energy • Cons: • depends on wind, weather and geography. • potential threat to the lives of flying animals. • visual impact may affect the desirability and property values in the neighborhood.

  4. Types of aerogenerators • Windmills: Mechanical energy is used directly by machinery. • Wind turbines: Mechanical energy is then converted to electricity.

  5. Cost for setup • $8,500- $12,000 • 650 kilowatt hours a month can save up to $65 on your energy bill.

  6. Who most likely use it • U.S-this benefits the population immensely and can free the country from its dependence on foreign oil. • India-about 5% of India’s energy is being supplied by wind power generation. • Germany-10% of the nations energy is being supplied by wind power generation.
