6. The Panama Canal • America bought rights from a French company, wanted more power in the area. • Negotiated agreement with Columbia regarding canal. • Government refused, there was a revolution, which America supported.

8. Diplomacy and Morality • Woodrow Wilson Intervenes in Latin America. • Refused to recognize Mexico’s new gov. because of illegitimate methods. Nearly got into war with them. • Veracruz
