  1. Hamlet on the Holodeck A new medium for storytelling. by. Stephen Lane

  2. Scifi and Fantasy • Stories of the future have been around for a long time now.Aldous Huxley’s Brave New World. Set hundreds of years in the future.

  3. Science Fiction is a way for people to leave there normal day life and experience something new and exciting. • Back to the future 2, took the audience took the future.Which showed us a possible future. Flying Cars and such.

  4. Visions on the future • Murray’s text brings up the point that there are two different visions of the future. Utopian Dystopian

  5. Utopian Future - Visions of a perfect future, war free, disease free, awesome technologies. The replicator from star trek was capable of creating food and beverages, among other things basically out of nowhere. The Holodeck, from star trek is a utopian advancement on virtual reality. Inside the holodeck you can experience anything, it provides completely realistic simulations.

  6. Utopian Technologies: Many different movies or stories have featured similar technologies. Medical technology is one big one. This is the healing device used in Stargate. Star trek had healing tools Which used lasers.

  7. Other Utopian Technologies featured in star trek are the holonovel. • The holonovel is basically a novel that uses holodeck technology to let people actually play the parts in the novels. This is a star trek character playing Beowulf in a holonovel.

  8. The terminator movies are the Perfect example of dystopian Future. • Dystopian future - visions of a future that is basically a nightmare. In these movies, we used our Technology to create our own Destruction, making robots and Computer systems who then Turned on us.

  9. “The more persuasive the medium, the more dangerous it is.” • This statement is as true today as it ever will be. With video games today being as real as real life. It can cause People to lose reasoning and think that anything's okay.

  10. The multiform Story • The multiform story is a story told using a form of the parallel universe theory. Like how every choice we make has a different possible outcome. These types of movies have become more common in the past decade or so, do to the fact that our technology is approaching that level to where it may be possible. • Examples of this are : It’s a wonderful life. In this movie a man gets to see What his hometown would be Like if he had never lived.

  11. The Family Man • Mr. Destiny In this movie a man sees How his life would’ve been If he hit the game winning Homerun in high school. In this movie a man sees How his life would’ve been If he made one decision Differently.

  12. 3-D movies • The biggest 3d movie to ever be released, was in fact a movie where the characters were actually becoming someone else.AVATAR recently came out, in this movie the characters would go into a computer and take over the body of a alien life form. So having this movie in 3-D made the audience more active.

  13. So whether it’s good or bad technology, we are getting ever closer to some of these possibilities. • While much of what we see on TV and in the movies is still just theories and research, it’ll soon be made real. • By the end of this century “the equivalent of seeing a movie might begin with simple walk through a 3-d environment like a theme based park of restaurant.”
