  2. Sopas de leche • Ingredients : 4 cups of milk, 4 tortillas, salt to taste • Preparation: Heat milk in a pot over high medium until warm. Cut tortillas into 2 inch squares and place in a bowl. Pour milk over tortillas. Add salt to taste. Serve hot • It’s a delicious warm soup made with milk and tortillas. Warm milk with soft square cut tortilla.

Sopas de pescado • Ingredients: 2 fillets of white fish.200 grams of corn cob or can of sweet corn.4 potatoes, peeled and cut into squares.500 grams of cassava peeled and cut into small piece (optional) 1 onion, leek cut into slices.1 bunch of cilantro.1 fish stock cubes1 vegetable stock cube.1 teaspoon of triguisar or all purpose seasoning.1 teaspoon of tumeric1 tablespoon ground cumin.1 teaspoon garlic paste.2 liters of water.1/2 cup of milk or coconut milk. Salt and pepper to taste. • Preparation: peel off the fish and cut them into big pieces. In a large pot bring water to boil over high heat, add the seasoning and the fish. Once you've cooked the fish for 10 minutes add the other ingredients. Let cook for another 30 minutes or until the potatoes and cassava are tender but not diluted. Serve hot • It’s a warm satisfying Costa Rican soup made will juicy fish, and mouth watering corn. Salty and sweet. Warm well seasoned fish and corn soup.

Gallo Pinto • Ingredients: 2 cups (before cooking) White rice…cooked and cooled. 2 tbsp. cooking oil (use bacon grease if you have it….much better flavor!) 1 can whole black beans – do not drain or rinse. 1 red bell pepper – seeded and diced. 1/2 white onion – diced. 3 garlic cloves – minced (more if you like garlic…more is better)1/4 cup Lizano** Cilantro • Preparation: Dice all veggies (do not add cilantro) and sauté until onion is clear. Add in rice and cook about 5 min, to absorb the oil and flavors. Add in can of black beans and liquid. Stir and add in Lizano. Stir to incorporate and cook another 5-10 min. Add cilantro if desired. • It’s a yummy breakfast dish made of yummy white rice, delicious savory vegetables, finely cooked eggs, and delicious black beans. Eggs, black beans and rice, and vegetables.

Casado • Ingredients:2 onions Oil, for frying 1 cup rice 1 cup black beans 2 cloves garlic 1 stick celery 200g steak (thin cut preferred) 1 plantain 1 whole beetroot Mayonnaise, to taste 2 corn tortillas 150g Turrialba cheese (soft cheese) • Preparation: Dice 1 of the onions. In a fry pan, sauté the onion with a little oil. Rinse the rice well. Add the rice to the fry pan and add water to cook the rice. When cooked, drain the liquid. In a separate pot, boil the black beans with water, together with the other whole (peeled) onion, garlic and celery. Boil until the beans are soft, and drain when done. Remove the onion, garlic and celery. Fry the steak whole. Slice the plantain in half, and fry until golden brown. Set aside. Cut the beetroot into small squares and mix with the mayonnaise. In a dry fry pan, fry the tortilla with pieces of the soft cheese on top, until melted. You can also serve this with a green salad of your choice and a fried egg. • It’s a marriage food, made with juicy cooked onions, yummy black beans, cooked vegetables, soft tortillas, juicy tender steak, and creamy cheese.   6. Refresco • Ingredients: Water or milk, fruit. • Preparation: Cut up fruit, mix with water or milk. Blend. • It’s a refreshing, Costa Rican fruit drink, that’s sweet and satisfying. Strawberry refresco with Pineapple and a cherry.
