  2. Greek Pots • The only remaining Greek painting is found on pottery. • Greek artists were very interested in REALISM. • This was the first time in history that Artists signed their names.

  3. Themes • Common themes include Greek myths, athletes and stories.

  4. Common Patterns • Common patterns include stylized flowers, and geometric shapes like the Greek Key

  5. Two Types • There are two types of vase decorations • Red-figured have red figures on a black background • The Black-figured have black figures on a red background • The red color is the color of the clay and the black is the paint or glaze.

  7. Greek Sculpture • Ancient Greeks were masters at sculpture. • Their sculptures are very realistic. • Sculptors carved into marble and stone. • Most were probably painted in bright colors, but have now faded and worn off.
