Existing Learning Management Systems • Systems: Saba, Knowledge Planet, Pathware, etc. • Try to be everything to everyone • Large, proprietary, expensive, buggy • Standards: SCORM and AICC • Try to be everything to everyone • Difficult to implement • Limitations on the web • Overkill for most training needs

About the R4 • Blue Box's Rapid Development tool for CBT • Built to automate 80% of the production of CBT • Design tool built in FileMaker Pro • Presentation and testing done in Authorware • Authorware is Macromedia's main CBT Authoring tool • Similar to Macromedia Director and Macromedia Flash • All three use “Drag and Drop” creation with a Scripting language underneath

Admins, and Global Admins • Multiple courses will be tracked in the system • Courses are made up of Modules • Modules and made up of Lessons • Both progress through lessons and test scores are to be tracked • Tests might be attached at the course level, module level, or lesson level
