  1. Galatians: Declaration of Liberty in Christ Proof (contracts) -- Gal. 3: 15 - 18

  2. Elements of Abrahamic Covenant • He would have descendants, as numerous as the stars above. • Through one of these descendants, all peoples would be blessed. • He and his descendants would inherit the Holy Land and more – in fact, from the Nile to the Euphrates.

  3. Paul’s Points… • A Covenant cannot merely be set aside by one party; God cannot change His covenant either. • The Covenant was not just with Abraham, but also his descendant, Christ; it didn’t die with Abraham.

  4. Paul’s Points (cont)… • The interposition of a new thing does not remove the original covenant. • The character of the covenant (promise/grace/faith) and the Law (works) are so different that Law could not be put into the Promise Covenant.

  5. A Hymn to God the Father – John Donne Wilt Thou forgive that sin where I begun,    Which was my sin, though it were done before? Wilt Thou forgive that sin, through which I run,    And do run still, though still I do deplore?        When Thou hast done, Thou hast not done,                    For I have more. Wilt Thou forgive that sin which I have won    Others to sin, and made my sin their door? Wilt Thou forgive that sin which I did shun    A year or two, but wallowed in a score?        When Thou hast done, Thou hast not done,                    For I have more. I have a sin of fear, that when I have spun    My last thread, I shall perish on the shore ;But swear by Thyself, that at my death Thy Son   Shall shine as he shines now, and heretofore ;        And having done that, Thou hast done ;                    I fear no more. Thoughts to take home with you… • God doesn’t change His mind or lie; You are secure! • Your growth in Him is based on His promise; He will not fail you!
