  3. What is Human Trafficking? • The movement of people to places for the purpose of forced labor • Types of forced labor: • Sex Slavery • Domestic Servitude • Factory and/or Farm Slavery • Child Soldier Slavery

  4. How Does Human Trafficking Affect Society Today? • Estimates of 27 million slaves in the world today • 15-20 million is bonded labor in India, Pakistan, Bangledesh & Nepal • Slaves in almost every country in the world • Women & children are the majority

  5. Mission of Freedom Network Ensure that trafficked persons are treated as victims and not criminals, and are able to have full access to justice. Increase public awareness of the crime of trafficking through education, research, training and community outreach. Engage in sponsorship at the local, national and international levels on behalf of trafficked persons and for full prosecution of all traffickers. Develop networks in the United States to link with international networks in order to carry out these above activities.(www.freedomnetwork.org)

Freedom Network • Freedom Network (USA), which was established in 2001, is an association of 25 non-governmental organizations that provide services to, and advocate for the rights of, trafficking survivors in the United States. • Members of the Freedom Network (USA) have provided services to trafficked persons in many ways.

Tapestri, Inc • Purpose - Tapestri works with many organizations/communities to address multiple forms of gender based violence and oppression in refugee and immigrant communities. • Philosophy - Everyone should have services that are respectful of his or her community, language, culture, race, age, sexual orientation, disability and religious beliefs. Tapestri’s Programs • Providing legal advocacy, assistance and referrals for victims of domestic violence • Providing technical assistance on refugee and immigrant issues related to domestic violence for all social service providers • Providing trainings on domestic violence and refugee and immigrant issues for court interpreters and personnel • Providing outreach, education and direct services for victims of human trafficking • Providing an ongoing 24-week Family Violence Intervention Program designed for refugee and immigrant men

  11. Adopt-A-Survivor • Choose a family or individual based on your groups capabilities • Determine the needs of your survivor(s) • Gather necessities • Promote awareness • Possibly coordinate a drive • Recruit friends to contribute
