  1. DO NOT IGNORE The Importance of Eye Exam  DUE TO MISCONCEPTIONS

  2. We have come a long way from monochrome 450-pixel televisions to ultra-high-definition 4K televisions. Yet, we are still not content. We want more clarity, more definition, and better viewing experience. You spend thousands of dollars for better picture quality in your televisions, camera phones, laptops. But, have you ever given the same attention to your own vision. Is it on your priority list? or has it ever been? Would you be able to enjoy these without a good vision?

  3. “Casual Attitude Towards Eye Exam Can Cause Problems”

  4. In general, an Eye Exam is only taken when the vision deteriorates to a greater degree. People do take Vision Tests, but don't go for the Comprehensive Eye Exam unless forced to do so due to some serious problem. This kind of behavior becomes a source of many complicated eye disorders. Routine Eye Test is essential but it doesn't solve all the problems. Comprehensive Eye Exams are very important for detecting chronic damage to the eyes done by other factors like diabetes and high blood pressure. For instance, a Glaucoma Test cannot be compensated by a routine Vision Test in any condition and late detection can have serious repercussions.

  5. Common Misconceptions There are several misconceptions about Eye Exams. Some believe that till they are able to see clearly they don't need to worry about their eyes. Other think that eye exams are meant only for the elderly with poor vision and the list goes on.

  6. Eye Exams and Vision Tests are not the same This is a popular misconception. Vision Test is a relatively short screening where the optometrist looks for problems in your vision. This is not a test of the health of your eyes. In a Comprehensive Eye Exam, the doctor looks for the problems in your eyes. It is more detailed and various problems affecting the health of your eyes can be detected through it.

  7. Only Senior People Need Eye Exams Regularly This is a very unhealthy misconception. We all are exposed to things that are causing damage to our eyes. We watch a lot of television, face glaring lights, heat, dust, ultraviolet rays and many other such factors. These things can weaken eyes of people belonging to all age groups. Apart from these, some diseases like diabetes, high blood pressure, and several other such diseases can also cause serious eye troubles at any age. It is important to Test Your Eyes at regular intervals.

  8. “Why all Age Groups Need Comprehensive Eye Exams at Regular Intervals”

  9. Children One in four children these days have some or the other kind of eye problem. If it is not detected and treated at an early stage then it can keep on getting bigger. It has been observed through several studies that around 60% students who were believed to be problem learners actually had vision issues. This affected their learning drastically. Routine Eye Tests at least once in a year can solve this problem.

  10. Adults This is the age of computers and illuminated screens. Most of the working age population works on bright screens all day long. This puts a lot of strain on the eyes. Even as per conservative estimates more than 3 million Americans over the age of 40 have some or the other form of vision impairment. This can escalate if Eye Exams are not taken at least once a year.

  11. Seniors Age is the biggest enemy of vision. By the time one reaches the age of 65 there are almost 50% chances of getting a cataract. More than 2 million people over the age of 65 are suffering from it. It is not the end of it. More than 3 million suffer from glaucoma and to make it worse more than half of them were not even aware of it until a very late stage. Routine Glaucoma Tests and Comprehensive Eye Exams can keep you safe and prevent these issues for long.
