Available and affordable health care is critical to our population’s well being and productivity but it is beyond the resources of all but the largest cities and counties to fund locally.

  • Support Medicaid Expansion to ensure that all of our citizens have access to healthcare and that the burden of paying for indigent healthcare does not fall unfairly on the City, County, local hospitals or physicians
  • Oppose efforts to impose increased responsibility for the costs of Medicaid on local government, hospitals and physicians.

LOCAL CONTROL

Local governments are closest to the people and best able to allocate available resources to properly address their needs.

  • Support retaining local governmental control generally
  • Support cities’ control of their dedicated rights of way
  • Support cities’ control and protect their water rights and watersheds
  • Oppose caps on ad valorem appraisal/collections
  • Oppose unfunded mandates whether they originate in Washington, D.C. or Austin, Texas

ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT

Provides cities and counties the ability to provide meaningful employment opportunities that, in turn, support the area and Texas economies.
