  1. Know All About Gulf Marine Lubricants Not all lubricants are the same. For marine applications, they must be specially formulated to ensure that the engine and its components can operate smoothly. High-quality gulf marine lubricants come from leading marine oil manufacturers. Some of their products are designed for medium speed diesel engines working on distillate fuels. For this product, modern additive technology has been used to ensure superior protection and a clean engine. You can get this oil in SAE 40 or 30 viscosity grades, with a Base Number (BN) of 15 and 12. These oils will exhibit superior water tolerance that meets the API CF’s performance requirements. High-grade gulf marine lubricants offer superior detergency to keep the crankcase and the piston clean. Engine wear and maintenance costs are reduced with enhanced anti-wear properties. Their superior thermo-oxidative stability slows oil degradation, while controlling viscosity. Reserve base number guarantees protection for engine parts against combustion products that may cause corrosion. Demulsibility characteristics have been enhanced to ensure water separation, so engines can continue working trouble-free. Special inhibitors are included to prevent corrosion and rust on engine parts that are constantly exposed in severe saltwater environments. There are many applications for gulf marine lubricants. They are mostly recommended for power generation and marine applications with medium speed engines, but they can also be used in industrial settings when distillate fuels are being used and the sulphur content is up to 1.5%. The lubricant may be able to keep older engines working smoothly, as long as liner-lacquer will not become a problem down the line. Gulf marine lubricants are also practical for other applications, like lubrication of shipboard equipment in which specialised lubricants may not be recommended, or utilising API CF oils are adequate. Proper care and handling must be practised when handling gulf marine lubricants. As they contain highly refined mineral oils, they must be handled with care and avoid skin contact for safety. Keep them away from any combustible material and prevent them from splashing. Store them properly away from any pollutant, and covered. Practise proper disposal by bringing it the lubricant to an authorised collection facility rather than pouring the oil down the drain, into the soil, or into water.
