  1. Important Information About Marine Gas Oil The marine engines burn a lot of fuel on a daily basis to get rid of loaded transport. These tend to use low-grade fuel to make the operation cost lower as the oil price gives about 20%-50% of total operating costs. The low-grade fuels can’t always be used like HFO in areas called as Emission Control Areas or heavy fuel oil. In such cases, MGO or Marine Gas Oil is the most prominent fuel used in these cases. The industry of ships is known to be from the early adopters in the transport industry to follow and develop the stringent laws of the environment to move cargo all over the world. For the Environmental Committee, fighting from air pollution has always remained on the top priority and therefore various rules have been made to get rid of the harmful emissions. With a change in technology, the fuel for marine engines also tends to change rapidly. Content of sulfur in Marine Gas Oil Marine Gas Oil mainly used is considered as the blended component of a light cycle oil that has around 60% of aromatics. Because of the more aromatic nature, marine gas oil density mixed with LCGO tend to be on top than the oil or gas coming from the refinery. The MGO density will be closer to 879 kg/m3. Content of sulfur with cetane index The marine oil is also known as the LFSO or lower fuel oil because it contains the sulfur content of about 0.15 and 1.60 m/m%. Normal issues with MGO Microbial contamination that takes place because of fungi and bacteria, occurs in a fuel that has a lot of quantity of water. Due to the presence of bacteria, the fuel systems will lead to problems like erratic engine operation and chocked filters. Some of the possible indicators include: Suspended oil impurities The hazy appearance that takes place on the surface of the oil Foul smell coming up from the tank with a little discharge at the time of draining process Presence of slimy layer or emulsion between the gas oil and water Visit :- https://www.petrogulfmarine.com/ Address –PO Box 30399, New Industrial Area, Ajman, E-mail Id: info@petrogulfmarine.com
