  2. Intro • The earliest methods of recording audio started a very long time ago. People even say it started with cave men but the first for sure date goes back to the beginning of the 1800s.

  3. First person to record & when • The first person to record music was Thomas Edison in 1877.

  4. Yankee Doodle • 1878 : The first music is put on record: Jules Levy plays "Yankee Doodle."

  5. First live broadcast • 1910 Enrico Caruso is heard in the first live broadcast from the Metropolitan Opera, NYC.

  6. The radio • Radio broadcasting started in 1922 by the British Broadcasting Company.

  7. Vinyl Record Player • The record player was originally invented by Thomas Edison in the 1800s and was the phonograph but, later in the 1940s was revised and turned into the record player.

  8. Fantasia • 1940 Walt Disney's "Fantasia" is released, with eight-track stereophonic sound.

  9. Different types of audio • In 1915 one of the most well known music; jazz was created. • Gospel music was created in 1930s. • Rock music was created in 1955 by Chuck Berry. • Rap music was created in the 1970s.

  10. New inventions • 1963 Philips introduces the Compact Cassette tape format, and offers licenses worldwide. • Gerhard Sesser and James West, working at Bell Labs, patent the electrets microphone. • The Beach Boys contract Sunn Electronics to build the first large full-range sound system for their rock music concert tour

  11. CD Player • The CD player was invented in the late 1970s by Phillips Electronics.

  12. Digital surround sound • In 1975 Betamax digital audio "Dolby Stereo" cinema surround sound.

  13. Macintosh • 1984 The Apple Corporation markets the Macintosh computer.

  14. DVD player • In 1995 the DVD player came out.

  15. MP3 Player • In 1995 the mp3 player came out.

  16. Enhanced Cds • 1996 Record labels begin to add multimedia files to new releases, calling them "enhanced CDs."

  17. First IPod • Though there has been a portable Cd player for a while, the first IPod was invented in 2001 by the apple company. This is a system that lets you take a hand held device with music downloaded on it everywhere!
