  5. The TSU Challenge TSU must complete the preparation process for reaccreditationin 9 months!!!

  6. Reaccreditation Roles • The Dean governs • The NCATE Coordinator coordinates, facilitates, edits • The Steering Committee guides, advises • The Standards Chairs lead, write, document • The Faculty/Standards Committee Members collaborate, write, document • The Consultant coaches, aligns, paces

Meeting the Challenge • Mobilization: Your unit needs you NOW!Collaborative unit-wide team is essential! • Tireless Rapid Response Team • Weekly Steering Committee Meetings • Unit-Wide Weekly Work Sessions– Large Group Meeting•Information, Assignments (15 min.)•Group Concerns, Questions, Comments (15 min.) •Brief Progress & Need Reports by Standards Chairs (15 min.) – Break-Out Task Sessions by Standard (1 hr.)– Standards Report to Large Group (5 min.) • Establish schedule & clear calendars now•Weekly meetings •Nov. 9-11 Mock •Mar. 21-25, 2009 NCATE Every unit member a rapid response team member

Task Timelines: MAY • Mobilize the Unit: ALL must address urgent needs now • Finalize & approve the Conceptual Framework • Complete description of the Unit Assessment System–Everyone locate DATA, submit to Standard 2 • Begin writing & documenting –Standards chairs assign committee writing assignments– Sketch answers to IR template questions for assigned writing– Locate/develop/mine exhibits to support writing assignments • Review programs for needed revisions • Rectify documented weaknesses:•field placements •offices •communication •policies & procedures Every unit member a rapid response team member

Task Timelines: JUNE • Review every program • Identify/propose needed adjustments • Review IR template sketched answers & standards– Decide what answers should be– Identify needed support (exhibits)– Identify any changes that would improve answers– Identify any policies & procedures that need formalizing– Make it all so! • Relate data to Conceptual Framework KSDs Every unit member a rapid response team member

Task Timelines: JULY • All data into Unit Assessment System– Analyzed, analyzed, disseminated– Reviewed by chairs, coordinators, Assessment Committee– Data-based improvements made and documented • All syllabi updated, submitted • All program changes made, described in writing, published–Everyone locate DATA, submit to Standard 2 • Draft of Unit Policies & Procedures Handbook–Reviewed by faculty & administrators– Approved with modifications • Standards committees fill in sketched IR answers & exhibits Every unit member a rapid response team member

Task Timelines: AUGUST • Unit data & data-based improvements reviewed • State program reports completed; program performances compared • IR rough draft completed, reviewed for consistency/edits • Exhibit rough drafts completed, reviewed/edited • Website updated Every unit member a rapid response team member

  13. Task Timelines: SEPTEMBER • Mock draft of IR completed 9/15, edited • Mock draft of Exhibits completed 9/25 • Team work room/exhibit room set up Every unit member a rapid response team member

  14. Task Timelines: OCTOBER • Mock IR dressed and published (10/15) • Mock exhibits dressed and published (10/30) • IR & exhibits posted on password-protected website (10/31) • IR, CF, UAS hard copies mailed to mock team Every unit member a rapid response team member

  15. Task Timelines: NOVEMBER • Prepare for mock visit November 9-11, 2008 • Identify, schedule, prepare interviewees • Review mock report (11/19) • Develop action plan Every unit member a prepared team member
