  2. About Being Therapy As a nurse, registered in the province of Ontario, I am able to provide services in my scope of practice to residents of Ontario. My services are centered on your sense of wellbeing. I have over a decade of experience in mental health, working at some of the top hospitals in Ontario.

  5. Medication Review Services Many mental health conditions come with a pharmaceutical treatment. While there are national guidelines for doctors to follow and pick a medication for you, it’s still not an exact science and not everyone responds to medications as expected. Additionally, physical conditions have treatments that can interfere with your mental health condition or emotional wellbeing. Before assuming you’re just unwell, let a nurse at Being Therapy review things and provide some clinical insights.

  6. Grief Counselling & Therapy Sessions The death of a loved one will provoke strong emotions that can be confusing and debilitating. Grief is a natural process. Counselling provides the support needed when it feels very difficult to get through the day or week. Grief can be complicated by the events that unfolded in the dying process or things that were happening in our lives. Counselling can ease the difficulties of loss.

  7. Private Psychotherapy All services are $100 a session. Each session is about an hour and is available online. Services are available anywhere in Ontario where reliable internet exists. Once we confirm your email address, a welcome email will be sent. You will be guided to set up a health care portal where you can view your records and book online. The system used is Jane App.

  8. Caregiver Stress Reduction Therapy The system relies on families to provide care to loved ones at home. I can help you better manage the frustration, the grief, the loneliness and intense burden that comes with being a care giver. I can provide insights into how to best manage the tasks associated with providing care, do an independent home assessment and consult with others in the health care team on your behalf.

  9. Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) In this modality, known as CBT, therapy is focused on the connection between your thoughts, feelings and behaviours. It is evidence based and delivered in a way to help you gain insight. The goal is increasing your attention to what is creating distressing feelings and behaviours. CBT can be used for a wide range of conditions such as depression anxiety, substance use and psychosis.

  10. Motivation Building for Enhanced Self-care A form of therapeutic counselling, motivational interviewing is proven to help foster an inner desire to take care of oneself better. Motivational interviewing can be done for a variety of reasons and is best known for helping with substance use or addictions.

  11. System Navigation Education and Support As a nurse with over a decade of experience in mental health, I can help you navigate the public system. This service is offered as stand-alone if you want to stay with OHIP covered services. While I can’t promise faster access or increase how the public system prioritizes your needs, I can help you to better communicate your needs. I can also speak to health care professionals on your behalf about a particularly difficult issue you may be having.

  12. Supportive Counselling Therapy for Life Transition In this modality, therapy is focused on the here and now. We work towards achieving a state of calm. The goal is to achieve more balance in your current situation. Supportive counselling is generally short term in nature. You will leave with skills that address your current situation and manage stress. Supportive counselling is best for difficult points in life involving loss. If you have recently lost your job, a loved one or pet, or even a hoped-for-opportunity, we can help.

  15. Service area Regional and Online As a nurse, registered in the province of Ontario, I am able to provide services in my scope of practice to residents of Ontario. I am physically located in the downtown core of Toronto, however, I am enabled for telepractice and virtual care. Residents outside of Toronto may be eligible for online psychotherapy services if followed by a primary care practitioner in their region. Please contact me for more details.
