  2. My Creative Work • 5 foot square light panel • 100 light bulbs • How different people see light • Lets the audience experience the agony of illumination

  3. My Reality • Had migraines since I can Remember • Auras are colored spots and blurred vision • Light, sound and smell sensitivity with nausea and occasionally vomiting • Many medications and treatments • ER twice with migraine attacks

  4. What is a Migraine? • Throbbing or pulsing pain in one area of the head • Can be accompanied by nausea, vomiting, extreme light and sound sensitivity • Can last from hours to days • May experience auras or warning signs • Unknown cause – Genetics and Environment seem to play a role

  5. This Time Around… • Migraine constantly for 1 year, 4 months and counting • Trigger point injections, steroids, IV infusions, botox, MRI, acupuncture, massage, yoga, exercise, blood and heavy metal poisoning tests… • No Answers • My pain has become an inspiration

  16. Why? • Aims to push the boundaries of art • Make work about what you know – Light Sensitivity • Understand what light is like to different people

  17. The Agony of IlluminationResults • Four 2.5 x 2.5ft panels displayed as a large 5 x 5ft square • 100 25watt light bulbs on the panels and a single bulb hanging in front of the panels • Light installation displayed the CSU Gallery as part of the URS Creative Works Exhibition

  18. Process • Blueprint • Order parts • Machine, assemble, wire, and paint panels • Install work in gallery • Put in light bulbs • Use Timers • Runs on two circuits
